Gratituesday – October’s Memories

Posted by on Oct 30, 2012 in Gratituesday, Our Life | 2 comments

The month of October has been a busy month. As I look back on this month, I’ve had the opportunity to spend some quality time with family and friends. The first part of the month my husband and I took Little Buddy to a pumpkin patch, we finished decorating for fall and I hosted a busy bag swap.

The second half of the month, Little Buddy and I traveled across the country to visit family and attend my youngest brother’s wedding. For those two weeks, I planned and made many meals for friends and family. The biggest highlights were: baking pita bread with my sister-in-law Felicity, attempting caramel apples, hanging out with my cousins and being apart of my brother’s wedding.

When we arrived home, I took a day to relax, then we were off to more exciting things! I made caramel apple cupcakes for a dinner party and then prepared for a storm. Luckily, we had no damage and we never lost power. We are very grateful!

Yes, the month of October was busy but very memorable. It is something I’m very thankful for today!

What was your most memorable event from this month? I’d love to hear what you are thankful for!

Gratituesday: Busy Bag Swap

Posted by on Oct 10, 2012 in Gratituesday, Our Life | 2 comments

This afternoon I hosted a busy bag swap at my house. It was so much fun to hang out with friends and do craft projects with our little ones.

These little activities will keep my little guy doing something fun for a little while.  My friends came up with some great ideas!  They really spent some time making them and I can’t wait to let Little Buddy play with them all! Today I’m very grateful for the wonderful afternoon with friends and new activities for my little guy!

Here is just a few pictures from todays fun event.

Drinks: pumpkin spice lattes, apple cider, apple juice and ice water.

Snacks: pumpkin muffins and “apple trees” made of pretzels and apple slices.

Crafts and Activities: play dough, make an apple tree, apple stampingcolored rice and coloring.

We have little Picasso’s in the making! :)

Soon after our friends left, we tried out one of the busy bags.  I’m not sure where Little Buddy’s sock went. He didn’t seem to mind. He laughed and giggled as he went “fishing” in the kitchen.

Well I couldn’t have asked for a nicer day. Friends, food and activities was a great way to spend a Tuesday afternoon! Something I’m very thankful for!

For busy bag ideas you can check out my busy bag board on Pinterest.

Gratituesday ~ Bread of Life

Posted by on Sep 4, 2012 in Gratituesday, Our Life | 2 comments

The house is quiet and no one is awake yet. I quietly pour a cup of coffee, toast a piece of bread and walk down to our office.  Yes, this time of day is precious to me.  I love this quiet time to read God’s word and pray about it.  This particular time of day I’m very grateful for.  Because its from His word that I learn God’s character to be a woman who: loves her husband, her son, her family and her friends – to the ability that only God could provide knowledge, wisdom and strength for. I love morning time! A time to relax and prepare my heart for the day ahead.

The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.  Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.

Lamentations 3:22-23

What is your favorite time of day? What is something you look forward to in each day that brings you joy?

Gratituesday – The Dining Room Table

Posted by on Aug 21, 2012 in Gratituesday | Comments Off on Gratituesday – The Dining Room Table

The table is almost 4o years old and made by Ethan Allen. It has dents and scrapes and dings. It has watermarks and if you look closely it has teeny tiny writing from when I was a kid engraved in it. It’s the dining room table that has seen multiple Christmas dinners, shared many breakfasts and, “hard to get off” oatmeal from toddler hands. The dining room table is one of the most precious things in the house.

I’ve laughed there and cried there. I’ve even spilt milk! Prayers happen there daily. Love is shared there through conversations and sweet treats from the oven. Shoes are tied from sitting there. Smiles from sweet faces are seen there. There isn’t a fancy table decoration usually or even cushions on the chairs.

It’s made of pine, strong to last 40 years but soft to show life’s memories.

Yes, thats what my dinning room table is about. A place where anyone is welcome, a place where marks can be left because they will remember the best times.

I can’t express how grateful I am to my friends that I’ve shared meals with over this past week. (You know who you are.) You’ve totally blessed me! You remind me why the table is one of the best places in the house.

What is your favorite memory at the dining room table?

Gratituesday – God’s Pursuit for Us

Posted by on Jul 31, 2012 in Gratituesday, Our Life | 6 comments

We have a beautiful little toddler who is full of life and energy.  He is at that age where he loves getting into everything. Yesterday, I was emptying the dishwasher he managed to get a butter knife and decided to take off with it. I was in hot pursuit to get it away from him.  He totally thought it was funny that I was chasing after him. I was able to get it away from him before he hurt himself.

Later in the day, I started writing this post and it made me think about how the Lord is in pursuit of us.

Since creation, God has longed for a relationship with us. Then very shortly after, sin enters the world and ever since God has had a plan to make it right again.  Throughout the Old Testament we see the Israelites make mistakes over and over again.  Even though there were consequences, God still pursued them! Then He sends Jesus to make the way for us to be in constant communication with Him. And lastly, He is coming back for His children to make everything perfect again.

The same is true for us as Christians, we make mistakes time and time again, and even though there are consequences, God still pursues us.  He gives us unconditional love and grace.

I’m so grateful that we have a loving Father who pursues each and every one of us.  I’m grateful for the friends, family and acquaintances He has placed in my life to help me see Him even better.  I’m thankful for His word (the Bible) and that it can encourage me and guide me, that way I can love my family and friends the way Jesus did.

God is in pursuit of you too my friend.  He’s right beside you every single day, call on Him no matter what. He loves us all no matter what we do.

Every good and perfect gift comes from Him.
