Gratituesday – Grateful for our Military

Last week, my husband and I went out on a little date to see Act of Valor.  I knew the movie was about Navy Seals and thought it was just another war movie.  Who would have thought, I would have felt impacted by such a moving movie.  I left the theater with a red face (from crying) and a changed heart. This movie was so real in how a military wife feels as her husband leaves for deployment and shows the reality of how Soldiers stick together, like brothers, to protect one another and us as Americans’!  I’ve always thought I was grateful to live in America and extremely thankful for our military, but I have to say that this movie elevates my gratefulness to a whole other level.  I want to remember the luxuries they give up: to protect us.  The families they leave behind: to protect us.  The things that break their heart, but they never show it: to protect us.  The love they share with each and everyone of us (even if we never meet them): to protect us!

So today with an overwhelmingly full heart of gratitude: thank you to the men and women who serve in the U.S. Military and to my loved ones and friends who serve faithfully!  You mean the world to me.  Thank you for protecting us!

Be strong and of good courage. Do not be afraid for the Lord your God will be with you where ever you go.  Joshua 1:9

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!  2 Corinthians 9:15

  1. What a wonderful post! Not only should we thank the men and women that leave us in order to protect us but also the sacrifices of their families. Wives or husbands that miss their spouses for us. Children that miss their daddy’s or Momma’s just for us.
And never forget the broken ones that come back to us. Sadly they are not all helped by the VA hospitals. Since these men and women have lost so much for us, what can we possibly give them to re-pay them?

So thank you Lord for bringing them home now let’s help and heal them!

  2. Thanks for sharing this tribute! I’m visiting late from Gratituesday. Blessings!
