Gratituesday – Love

I’m currently going through the Book of Matthew during my morning devotion and I’m really enjoying reading about Jesus’ ministry.  This morning I was reading in Matthew 18 about the parable of the lost sheep and it really encouraged me. It reminded me of God’s love something I’m very thankful for but honestly sometimes forget.  So today I’m going to share with you that parable.

12 “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost? 13 And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he will rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine that didn’t wander away! In the same way, it is not my heavenly Father’s will that even one of these little ones should perish.
Matthew 18:12-14

Gods love for us is unconditional, individual and emotional*.  It’s unconditional because no matter what we do, He loves us.  Repeat that again, no matter what we do He loves us! Second, His love is made perfect for our every need, therefore it’s individual.  Thirdly, His love is emotional.  When we mess up He doesn’t throw up His hands and give up on us when we come crawling back. He rejoices! He comes to us with all of His grace, because He wants us with him. God loves for me amazes me because the countless times I’ve messed up or done the wrong thing, He continues to pour out his grace and love. Because He has unconditional, individual, emotional love for me and you!

Just as a mother loves her son or daughter no matter what they do. We hang right beside our friend, brother sister, mother, father, or neighbor. No matter how they did wrong toward us (unconditional). Each person has their own strengths, lets encourage what they are good at instead of criticizing what they don’t do at all (individual). We love them through tears, happiness, and laughter (emotional).

These are ways I want to apply love!

Today I’m very thankful for my family and friends who love me!  And I’m thankful for my Heavenly Father who always goes after me. :)

What are you thankful for today.  Please share in the comments!
