Natures Candy Bowl Centerpiece

Decorating our dining rooms don’t have to cost a fortune.  Personally, I love things that are simple, clean and don’t eat my budget.  :-) I’ve realized (over the past year) that I don’t have to spend a lot of money to make my home beautiful.  With a little inspiration, I usually have everything I need already – at home.

See, I have this trifle bowl.  It lives in my favorite piece of furniture (our hutch in the kitchen) and it doesn’t get used nearly enough! And thanks to Myra at myblessedlife.net for sharing her layered fruit salad recipe a few weeks ago.  I instantly got an idea to showcase my trifle bowl for at least a week! And since we usually have a bowl of fruit or as Ellie Krieger calls it, “Nature’s Candy Bowl.” I decided to make it my center piece for the week.

 Here is what you need:

  • Your favorite bowl
  • Desired amount of fruit (I used what I had on hand: 6 apples, 4 limes, 2 lemons and 3 kiwis)
  • A table runner or table cloth
  • Favorite book to read (Maybe a family devotional or book you are reading with your children.)

When arranging the fruit, I alternated each one, starting with the apples and limes and then placed on kiwi in the center.  I repeated the process on the second layer of fruit.

Next, I placed the table runner in the center of the table.  Followed by a decorative kitchen towel that had a similar color green to my table runner to add a little more color.

We read from The Jesus Storybook Bible daily so I placed it on the table underneath the trifle bowl.

And there you have it.  Using everything I had on hand to create a simple center piece that is enjoyable until all the fruit is eaten! :-)

What special items in your house can you use to create a simple and enjoyable centerpiece?
