Preparing Our Heart and Home for the Holidays – Let’s Get Cookin

Cooking in the kitchen with my little guy is fun. Although, it is a little {A LOT} more work some times, it really brings me joy to see him working away to help. This past week we’ve made a couple batches of Artisan bread and I’ve been teaching him how to pour the ingredients into the bucket. He gets quite the thrill by dumping the flour in the bucket. It’s even more exciting when some lands on the floor and all over him. I can’t help but laugh. Then we worked on trying to keep it in the bucket. Lastly, we learned how when we make a mess, we have to clean it up! I wish I had gotten some pictures of it. This week I will get some pictures  and then share with you all!

Well to continue right along in our series this month, Courtney at Women Living Well has a fun challenge for us all. Are you ready? Here it is!

Focus on the kitchen, the heart of the home. Cook things with pleasant aromas – like homemade bread, pies, and cookies. Don’t wait to have a reason to make something special – do it simply to show love to your family. Invite your kids and/or hubby to cook along side of you – make memories in the kitchen – test tasting, being creative, laughing and loving. Remove discontentment and give thanks to God for the home God has given you in which to create a haven for your family.

Pretty easy right? Now get in the kitchen with your family! My little buddy and I will keep cooking up a storm and later this week we will get some time with our friends as we prepare for our Thanksgiving feast!

I”m very excited about it, if you couldn’t tell at all!!!

Alright, so lets add all our tasks together so far from the previous weeks of planning and do them today.

Today’s Verses:

“I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”- Matthew 25:40

Today’s Task:

  • Continue lighting a candle in your home and each time you see your candle pray for your family.
  • Continue playing your favorite music in your home.
  • Cook a meal together with a family member or friend today. Any meal: breakfast, lunch or dinner and take at least on picture of making your meal together.
  • Lastly, resource your to-do list, cross off what you’ve accomplished (YAY) and write down at least two things you need to accomplish today.

Okay friends. Enjoy this beautiful fall day with your family or friends! Have a great day.  See you all tomorrow, right here, same time!

Who will be sharing some kitchen time with you today? What are you going to be cooking up! Please share. :)
