Toddler in the Kitchen – Lemonade Inspired Finger Paint
Last week, I was in the kitchen (as usual) getting ready to make finger paint. And since my little guy is still in that stage of everything-in-the mouth, I choose to make my own finger paint. I’ve made a recipe from this site and I’ve made my own using yogurt. But I really wanted to change things up a bit. I wanted it to have some flavor.
Thats when I found my fruit bowl to be my inspiration and used a lemon to make my lemonade finger paint. Here’s how I did it:
First, I gathered some ingredients: juice and zest from 1 lemon, 2 cups of water, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 1/3 cup of all purpose flour.
Mix all ingredients together in a medium sauce pan. Whisk until smooth and mixture becomes thickened.
Divide mixture between 4 bowls or cups and let cool.
Add desired amount of food coloring to each bowl or cup.
Then get your happy toddler or preschooler and join in the fun and finger paint!
I stored the paint in the refrigerator up to 5 days.
